April 2009 rainfall

What a bizarre month! Flooded in twice here at the Mooloolah River road bridge. Major flooding across the Sunshine Coast and right down into northern NSW. Hardly anything for Toowoomba.

The 55 year median for April here is 110mm. We received 503mm over 12 consecutive days (most of it in about 4 days). Then not a drop since the 12th. Last April, we had 39mm for the month.

Only minor damage and washouts around the property surprisingly. Fortunately for wheelchair use, the areas all around the house are paved. It took the ground weeks to dry out enough to walk or drive on because the last 2 weeks of March and the first 2 weeks of April combined saw 633mm. Too much all at once to do a lot of good.

  1. 88mm for April in Rangeville. We thought that was good! It pales in comparison with yours.
