swamp wallabies

swamp_wallabyswampieI saw a pair of these adorable wallabies out of the kitchen window this morning. I believe they are Swamp Wallabies, also known as Black Wallabies and fairly common all along the East Coast of Australia. They are a soft creamy brown with a black face and black paws.

I couldn’t get close enough for a good photo, so I have supplemented my pitiful shot taken through the window with a proper, professional shot from the web. Lovely to watch them feeding in the slanting morning sunlight. One of them would stand and look around while the other put her head down to graze, then they would swap and the other would take a turn.

  1. How beautiful. How tall are they when in the position in the photo.

  2. They would have been about 90cm tall I guess (3 ft in the old money).
