blogging hiatus and Charles Dickens

Have not had enough energy since school went back 6 weeks ago to think much about blogging.

Apologies to my many faithful readers.

Day off today, but the world here is too waterlogged after weeks of rain for me to be doing much around the property – even though it needs it!

I have been reading slowly through some Dickens lately, specifically Great Expectations and cursing my High School experience that led me to despise reading anything of literary merit.

Here are some snippets that caught my attention…

“Few people know what secrecy there is in the young, under terror.”

“Tomorrow looked me in the face more steadily than I could look at it.”

“…[tears] are rain upon the blinding dust of earth, overlaying our hard hearts.”

“…so sulky a fellow that he even took up a book as if its writer had done him an injury.”

“He was a head taller than that gentlemen, and half a dozen heads thicker than most gentlemen.”
